A young boy named Christopher finds in his father's stable a strange creature that has long been thought to be extinct called a dragonhorse. A few years later, Christopher is forced to embark on a journey to find the last of the dragonhorses when he is threatened with the prospect of losing Dragonfire to the king. Along with finding the dragonhorses, Christopher must rescue the legendary dragonhorse mare Snowfire from the king. On his journey, Christopher is accompanied by his best friend Erik, a bossy elf named Ashley, and a mysterious ranger. In order to complete his quest, Christopher must face three loathsome Dragon Riders, a vengeful wizard, and numerous creatures of Casinuba who seem determined not to allow him to succeed.
