New Xulon Book Cooks Up Interest in Strengthening Family Unit
Longwood, FL (PRWEB) May 18, 2008 -- So many of Christian author Mary Helen Smail's childhood memories were centered around food. Therefore, it came as no surprise when she turned to writing a cookbook collection of well-loved family recipes that children of all ages could enjoy making and eating. Her new release, More, Please! Delicious Recipes for the Child in Everyone (paperback, 978-1-60647-305-4), has recipes, famous quotes, and Bible verses that will help readers get started creating their own memories for their family.
The author cites the fact that many people today have busy schedules -- and the lack of a meal time for the whole family -- as one of the things that led her to begin penning this book. But Smail, who majored in home economics in college, says the real idea for the book actually came from a conversation with an LA policeman. She was working on a public service announcement with Women in Film and the policeman was on the set. They soon began discussing why gangs were so numerous, and he explained that the young people rarely saw their own family because both parents might be working two jobs. She began thinking of how to bring these young people back home, and food seemed like the logical answer.
"Wouldn't it be wonderful if families had more sit-down meals together?" the author says. "It would help preserve the family unit, help families bond and communicate, and [help teach table manners. It could start out with one meal and expand from there."

In the three decades that have passed, iPods have replaced the Walkman, disco died and with online banking and email, who needs a stamp? However, one thing has not changed. The Schuster Center, now located at 9312 E. Raintree Drive in Scottsdale, is still going strong and it is still one of the leading practice management schools for dentists in the U.S.
